      Transitions

The process or an instance of passing from one form, state,  stage or place to another.

Disenchantment, whether it is a minor disappointment or a major shock, is the signal that things are moving into transition in our lives.

    - John Maxwell, 1512-1583

    Check In

Greetings and welcome readers and new subscribers! I hope you are enjoying these long summer days.

Having worked with children, schools and churches most of my adult life, I've always viewed the summer months as a time of transition - a time to regroup from the previous school year, then get ready for the next.

You may be going through your own transition. They come in all sizes and shapes... a new baby, moving to a new location, kids out of school or getting ready to leave for college, a death in the family, a job or career change, retirement, separation or divorce... just to name a few. Whatever form they take, life's transitions can sometimes leave you feeling a bit unsettled, confused, uncertain and a myriad of other emotions!

Transitions are a natural part of our life journey. And though we don't always have a choice in when or how they come, we do have a choice in how we respond. We can choose to fight them by resisting the change and focusing on the past. Or we can embrace them as opportunities for growth, letting go of the past and allowing ourselves to move forward into the new possibilities they bring.

I encourage you, wherever you are, to use these summer months as an opportunity to reflect on your life. Is anything is holding you back? Are you feeling disenchanted or disillisioned in any way? Is there anything that needs to be released and let go of so that you can move on?

If you are going through a transition, may you be able to tap into your inner strength, ask for help as you need it, and free yourself from the things that no longer serve you.

Wishing you joy, peace and prosperity in these summer months!

    - Becky

    Taking Time Off

Since I'm going through several of my own transitions this summer, I've decided to let this be the only newsletter issue for the summer. The newsletter will resume in the fall.

In the meantime, I invite you to peruse the archived issues which are listed below and are also now on the website.

I also invite you to have a look at my weblog, Journey to Perfection. I'll be posting updates on my journey though these transitions as well as other interesting tid-bits that I run across. And, if you'd like to be notified by email when I've written a post, use the subscription form in the sidebar. (It's on the weblog, too.) You an also use the RSS fed to get updates on your web browser's home page.

Coaching and teaching will continue during selected weeks through out the summer. If you've taken the Happiness Quiz, I'd love to chat with you about your dreams and desires, and what might be holding you back from creating true happiness in your life. Send me an email and we'll set up a time to talk.

    Gratitude (Nov. 2004)
If the only prayer you ever said was 'Thank You,' that would be enough. - Meister Eckhart

    Peace (Dec. 2004)
If there is to be peace in the world.... there must be peace in the heart. - Lao-Tse

    Desire (Jan/Feb. 2005)
We all have different desires and needs, but if we don't discover what we want from ourselves and what we stand for, we will live passively and unfufilled. - Bill Watterson

    Choices (Mar. 2005)
If we could raise one generation with unconditional love, there would be no Hitlers. We need to teach the next generation of children from Day One that they are responsible for their lives. Mankind's greatest gift, also its greatest curse, is that we have free choice. We can make our choices built from love or from fear. - Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

    The Comfort Zone (Apr. 2005)
Comfort zones are most often expanded through discomfort. - Peter McWilliams

You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new. - Brian Tracy

Decisions and Change - (May 2005)
You must know that in any moment a decision you make can change the course of your life forever: the very next person you stand behind in line or sit next to on an airplane, the very next phone call you make or receive, the very next movie you see or book you read or page you turn could be the one single thing that causes the floodgates to open, and all of the things that you've been waiting for to fall into place.

Your life changes the moment you make a new, congruent, and committed decision. - Anthony Robbins

    Time Out Tip

    Be gentle with yourself.

Kathi McGhail Moon, The Essential Woman

Life is a journey. It's a process that involves change, growth, and becoming.

Sure, there'll be times when we stumble and fall, or get side tracked and go on tangents. But there'll also be times when we soar like eagles in the sky. Either way is perfect. We're here to learn and to grow. Sometimes that growth is messy. Sometimes it's joyous.

So whatever you're experiencing, take a breath, relax, learn what you can and let the rest go. And most of all, in the words of my friend Kathi, "Be gentle with yourself!" Just remember....

If you're in a bad situation, don't worry it'll change. If you're in a good situation, don't worry it'll change.
    - John A. Simone, Sr

Life is change - and transitions
are just part of the journey. So be gentle with yourself... and enjoy the ride!
